Pedal & Paddle is a full service bike, kayak, and canoe shop providing sales, services, and rentals to locals and visitors since 2007, and is conveniently located at 115 W. German Street in downtown Shepherdstown.
We stock everything from kids' bikes and comfort bikes to recreational kayaks and life jackets. Our rental fleet includes mountain bikes, kids bikes, comfort bikes, and road bikes as well as a range of recreational kayaks and canoes complete with shuttle service for the nearby Potomac River. You can also find a selection of skateboards and longboards in our showroom for those looking for fun on wheels of a different kind.
Who We Are
Owner and founder Eddie Sampson is a Northern Virginia native who visited Shepherdstown on a cycling trip in 2003 and fell in love with Shepherdstown and the surrounding area. He has been an avid cyclist since his college days and has always been an advocate of a lifestyle of fitness that is also fun. In 2007 he realized his lifelong dream of opening a shop promoting two of his favorite things - pedaling and paddling. He graduated from Radford University in 1983 with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and currently balances his duties as shop owner with his job at the U.S. Capitol working under the Sergeant of Arms.
Hannah Beahm is also a Northern Virginia native and assists in managing the shop. She is a graduate of George Mason University with Bachelors in Business Management and Accounting and is currently pursuing her CPA accreditation. Hannah also has been an avid cyclist since she was a teenager and currently works at Golden Rule Builders in Fauquier County, Virginia.
Jamie Stone, a local Shepherdstown resident, is the head mechanic at Pedal & Paddle, with accreditations from the United Bicycle Institute as a Certified Bicycle Technician, Certified Advanced Wheel Builder, and Certified Technician in Suspension Technology. He is also certified by Serotta International Cycling Institute as a bicycle fitting professional. He has more than 10 years experience as a bicycle mechanic and when he isn't wrenching at the shop you can find him pursuing his passion for downhill mountain biking on the nearby trails.
Leslie Carter is also a Shepherdstown local and a graduate from Shepherd University. On top of being a valuable team member at Pedal & Paddle, she volunteers with the National Park Service to assist with the C&O Canal and has a passion for preserving the local history and the environment.
